Rupert is an award winning Canadian-British Director, Producer, and Writer.

While his portfolio is diverse - spanning factual, fiction, and commercial - his signature style is full of movement, imaginative originality, and a keen ear for sound.

Rupert is currently developing his first solo feature, The Peace Piano, a hybrid documentary about transcendental pianist Lubomyr Melnyk.

Born in Thunder Bay, Canada and raised on the Isle of Man, his career has taken him all over the world. In recent years he’s worked on Emmy nominated series The World According to Jeff Goldblum (Disney+); Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father (Netflix); Sunderland ‘Til I Die (Netflix); Stories of a Generation with Pope Francis (Netflix); and Change Accelerated (BBC).

In 2018 he joined Director Werner Herzog in the Peruvian Amazon for a filmmaking expedition where under his guidance, Rupert directed, produced, shot, and edited Jacob’s Ladder which had a successful Oscar and BAFTA accredited festival run.
In 2020 he co-directed and co-wrote Pawsea or: The Melancholy Ruminations of a Solitary French Bulldog, a comedic short which played Riverrun International Film Festival, Flickerfest, and Vienna Shorts amongst others.

In 2021, he co-launched pandemic documentary Tell Me with a collective of international filmmakers, encouraging people to leave their lockdown thoughts on a series of answer machines around the world.

A published writer, his work has appeared in The Guardian, National Geographic, BBC.com, Little White Lies, and NoFilmSchool.

Also in development are comedy series Hell Gig, obs doc series Firebirds, and travel series Hashtag vs Handshake.
